72-year-old Woman Killed in White Bear Lake Hit-and-Run

A 72-year-old pedestrian died in White Bear Lake late Thursday afternoon after she was struck by a driver who initially fled the scene.
Around 4:20 p.m. on March 27, 2025, responders were dispatched to the area of White Bear Parkway and Birch Lake Boulevard North in White Bear Township on the first report.
Emergency crews arrived to find the woman in critical condition and began CPR, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved was a black Kia SUV with visible damage to the front-left quarter panel. The driver reportedly fled eastbound on 9th Street following the crash and law enforcement immediately began searching the area.
The woman was in the crosswalk at the time she was struck, officials said. White Bear Parkway does not have stop signs at the intersection and the speed limit there is 40 MPH.

Shortly after the incident, a 46-year-old man arrived at the White Bear Lake Police Department and turned himself in, authorities have confirmed to MN CRIME. He was taken into custody and reportedly submitted to a preliminary breath test, which registered a .14 blood alcohol concentration, nearly twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.
A Minnesota State Patrol crash reconstruction team responded to assist with the investigation and the roadway remained closed for several hours as evidence was collected and mapped. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the woman’s age as 72 and stated that she died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
