A 2005 Daimler Chrysler Sprinter van was headed northbound when it entered the closed lane of the tunnel, striking multiple orange barrels before crashing into an elevated scissor lift.

Damon Andreas Constans Jr., 23, is charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of threats of violence with reckless disregard, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.

The manhunt for the suspect accused of targeting and shooting Minnesota lawmakers came to an end Saturday evening with the arrest of 57-year-old Vance Boelter in Sibley County.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They provided immediate medical aid before the man was transported to a hospital, where he later died. A second man at the scene was also shot at but was not injured.

Deputies with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 3:30 p.m. to the 4800 block of Voss Road in Mountain Iron after a caller reported an ATV crash.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. near State Highway 65 NE and Sims Road NE. Authorities say an adult male was driving a pickup truck southbound on the highway when he struck the rear of a SUV driven by an adult woman.

Boelter was being sought in connection with the overnight shootings at the homes of State Representative Melissa Hortman and State Senator John Hoffman.

The suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV with a push-bumper, a spotlight on the drivers’ side, and red-and-blue flashing lights mounted on both the dash and rear window.

While police officers were outside their squad cars, the department says the suspect driver suddenly accelerated and struck three officers before fleeing in the vehicle.

Police arrested a man at the scene believed to be responsible for the stabbing. Officials have not released his name or age, and it’s unclear whether he knew the victims.

A man armed with a chainsaw was shot by Brooklyn Center police late Wednesday night after officers responded to a domestic disturbance.
