Alcohol Suspected in 2-Vehicle Fatal Crash In Rock County
A two-vehicle crash on a rural highway left one man dead and another injured late Thursday in Rock County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, both vehicles were traveling north on Minnesota Highway 23 when they collided near 101st Street in Beaver Creek Township.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:44 p.m.
The driver of a 2023 Ford pickup truck, 47-year-old Grant Ira Crawford, of Jasper, was killed in the collision. Authorities confirmed he was wearing a seat belt.

The other vehicle involved—a 2015 Chevrolet Impala—was driven by 21-year-old Jayson Lynn Delf, of Hardwick. Delf sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was transported to Avera Emergency for medical treatment. According to the State Patrol, he was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol was involved.
Road conditions at the time were reported as dry and responding agencies included the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Luverne Emergency Medical Services, Beaver Creek Fire Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Avera Flight.
The crash remains under investigation.
