Man Accused in Broad-Daylight Shooting Ambush That Left 1 Dead
A man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that left one person dead and two others targeted in a broad-daylight gunfire exchange in north Minneapolis last November.
Davant Khalil Moore, 22, is accused of participating in the November 6, 2023, shooting near North 33rd Avenue and Dupont Avenue North.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, law enforcement responded to a report of a male down and discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was later pronounced dead, with the cause of death determined to be a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts detailed the presence of a blue Toyota Camry with stolen license plates at the scene. Investigators determined that three different 9mm firearms were used during the shooting. Witnesses described three males who appeared to lie in wait before the incident, then ran toward the suspect vehicle, which then drove around the corner and stopped before shots were fired.
Two other individuals with the deceased victim told officers they were walking together when a group exited the suspect vehicle and began shooting. They attempted to flee through a backyard and alley while being pursued by at least two shooters. One of the victims reported seeing a shooter from the vehicle again firing from the alley as they tried to escape.

A witness who called 911 noted the shooter wore khaki-colored clothing and confirmed seeing the suspect vehicle parked in the alley. Another witness identified four males in the vehicle earlier that day, recognizing one of the shooters as a backseat passenger who later exited the vehicle and opened fire.
Police later identified the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop two days after the incident. The vehicle fled but was later recovered. Two individuals, including a juvenile who was driving, were located hiding nearby. That individual, identified as Jahon Ronnell Lynch, was previously charged in connection with this shooting and another case involving fleeing police.
Further investigation tied Moore to the shooting through surveillance video, cellphone records, and witness statements. Surveillance footage showed Lynch driving the suspect vehicle earlier in the day. Cellphone mapping confirmed Moore was in the vicinity of the shooting scene at the time of the incident.
Another suspect previously charged in the case, Albert Lucas, remains in federal custody, while a third individual believed to be involved, Tyshawn Lyons, was killed in an unrelated incident weeks later.

Moore, identified as the third shooter, was recognized through his association with the others and his own statements during a police interview. When shown video evidence, Moore did not deny being at the scene or firing a weapon. Instead, he reportedly remarked, “I’m not the only 400-pound person in the state.” He also acknowledged that he and Lyons were always together.
Messages and phone records indicated that Moore had communicated with Lynch and Lucas shortly before and after the shooting. A message recovered from Lyons’s cellphone hours after the incident suggested Moore was with him at the time, referring to him by the nickname “Fat fat.” Authorities also linked a firearm used in the shooting to another case involving the same group.
Gang affiliations were noted in the complaint, with investigators identifying Moore, Lynch, and others as members of the “Lowz,” a Minneapolis street gang. The victims were identified as members of the rival “Highs” gang.
Moore is currently not in custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
