Woman Struck, Killed By Rice County Sheriff's Deputy
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a woman was killed after being struck in the roadway by a Rice County Sheriff’s squad early Saturday morning. According to the State Patrol, the Rice County squad car was driving without lights or sirens going eastbound on Highway 60 in Morristown when the officer struck the person suspected of walking in the roadway.
Rochester Fire Crews Extinguish Afternoon House Fire
Shortly before 3 p.m on Saturday, crews were dispatched to the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue Northeast in Rochester for a report of flames in the upstairs bedroom of a residence. Initial arriving crews reported they had fire showing from the back of the house, and heavy smoke showing from the roof.
Cottage Grove Man Federally Charged in Bank Robbery Spree
A 43-year-old Cottage Grove man has been federally charged in connection to a string of Twin Cities bank robberies that were carried out in Nov. 2021. Michael Thomas Prall is charged with three counts of bank robbery and made his first court appearance Wednesday.
Men Sentenced for 'Harmless Fun' After 2 Pipe Bombs Detonated in Washington Co.
Two men who pled guilty to making and detonating homemade explosive devices in November of 2020 in Washington County each received 30-day jail sentences and two years of probation. 30-year-old Nicolas Thole of Woodbury and 41-year-old Seth Slaikeu of Afton were also fined $387.00 each. Thole and Slaikeu were also given a stay of imposition, meaning their felony convictions will be reduced to misdemeanors upon successful completion of their probation.
Man Charged with Murder After Wife Found Beaten, Wrapped in Comforter
Charges filed Monday in the murder of a 66-year-old Saint Paul woman detail the gruesome scene found by investigators inside a home on the 1400 block of Dale St. N. Early Sunday, Jan. 23, officers were called to the home and found Arvid Harry Johnson, 66, smoking a cigarette at the kitchen table, according to a criminal complaint. They found his wife Linda M. Johnson, 66, on the floor in a bedroom of the home, with obvious trauma to her face and head.
Man Jailed After Woman Found Fatally Injured in Saint Paul
A woman who was found “badly beaten” inside a Saint Paul residence early Sunday morning died of her injuries at the scene and her husband has been jailed on suspicion of murder, police say. Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Dale St. N. in the city’s North End neighborhood around 12:30 a.m.

Saint Paul police are investigating a homicide after a woman was fatally shot early Saturday morning on the 40 block of Lyton Pl., in the city's North End neighborhood. Details are limited, but officers first on scene reported finding the woman outside, barely breathing around 12:10 a.m., according to initial dispatch audio.

A driver was seriously injured in a crash with a school bus carrying nearly two dozen students Friday afternoon in New Brighton. Just after 4 p.m. on Friday, emergency crews responded to the intersection of County Road 88 and County Road D in the city of New Brighton for a report of a head-on crash involving a school bus.
One Victim Rescued After Rochester Apartment Fire
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Rochester Fire units were alerted to a fire alarm at the Woodridge Apartments located at 2804 2nd St SW. Initial arriving units noticed smoke coming from the building, with many residents evacuating.
Hutchinson in Squad Car Video After December DUI Crash: 'I Wasn't Driving'
The Minnesota State Patrol on Thursday released more information and video from Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson’s DUI crash near Alexandria, Minn. in December 2021. Portions of the video show Hutchinson lying injured on the shoulder of Interstate 94 after he rolled his county SUV early Dec. 8. Hutchinson was attending a law enforcement conference in Alexandria and was hospitalized after the crash.
Man Dead After Shooting in Saint Paul's Frogtown Neighborhood
A 911 call around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday of a possible home invasion and shots fired led to St. Paul’s third homicide in 2022. According to initial dispatch audio, a 911 caller reported that a male had entered their home on the 300 block of Blair Avenue and held a gun to the head of their cousin. The suspect was reportedly still on the scene at the time of the call.
Crews Respond to Business Fire at Truckin' America in Rochester
Around 9:30 am on Tuesday, fire crews received a call for smoke filling the inside of Truckin’ America, 4720 Highway 52 North, in Rochester. First arriving crews noted heavy smoke inside of the business, and light smoke coming from the roof.
Mom Shot By Juvenile Daughter in St. Louis County, Minn.
St. Louis County emergency crews responded to a home on the 9200 block of Range Line Rd. in Morcom Township, near Cook, on Jan. 16 after a 911 caller reported they had been shot and was driving to the Cook Hospital. The caller reported that their daughter had shot her and that she was still at home, but had access to a vehicle.
Suspect Arrested After Firing Shot at Officer, Standoff in Willmar
Willmar police arrested a 36-year-old man early Sunday morning after he allegedly fired a gunshot at an officer during a foot pursuit and holed up in a garage for hours, armed with a handgun. Police said Esteban Ramos Jr., of Raymond, Minn., was stopped by an officer on the 100 block of High Ave. NE. just before 8:40 p.m. Saturday in Willmar.
2 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Being Found Unresponsive in Garage
Shortly after 1 a.m on Saturday, emergency crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Canyon Lane NW, after three males were found unresponsive in a residential garage. Initial arriving units reported that two of the three males were in cardiac arrest, and one was unresponsive but breathing.
4-Alarm Blaze in Burnsville Displaces Dozens of Residents
A large fire at an apartment building in Burnsville on Wednesday night left dozens of residents displaced, but no significant injuries were reported. Firefighters responded to the blaze around 10 p.m. and located heavy flames on the west side of the building, extending to all three floors.
Man Fatally Shot in Saint Paul's Hamline-Midway Neighborhood
St. Paul officers responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Prior Avenue North just after 9:30 pm. There, officers found a male believed to be in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The male victim was transported to Regions Hospital in traumatic arrest and didn’t have a pulse.
Crews Respond to Mobile Home Fire in Rochester Saturday Morning
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Rochester Fire Department was alerted to a fire in a mobile home in the Oak Terrace Mobile home park in southeast Rochester. Callers reported that fire was “shooting out” of the front of home.

A woman died after being stabbed in the chest Sunday afternoon inside an apartment building on the 100 block of Larpenteur Ave. W. According to initial dispatch audio, a call just prior of a male suspect breaking in an apartment door may be related.
18-year-old Arrested for New Year's Eve Mall of America Shooting
Bloomington police have arrested a man suspected of a shooting inside the Mall of America on New Year's Eve that injured two people. Kahlil Markell Wiley, 18, of Saint Paul, was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 on the 2600 block of Rice St. in Roseville and a firearm was recovered at the scene, police said. Wiley is being held on suspicion of 1st-degree assault with further charges forthcoming from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
